Through Our Eyes – Photography Exhibition
Hi Everyone,
In September last year all members were invited to participate in a Photography Project. Eleven members took up the challenge and an exhibition of our work opens on 2nd February and closes on the 3rd of March. The opening by our own Michel Scutts is on Saturday Feb 3 between 11am and 1pm with a lemonade after at the Criterion Hotel. The attached flyer has the information but it will be held at Gatakers Art Space in the POP UP Gallery at the front on Kent Street. It will be a great advertisement for our club and the variety of approaches the members have adopted to express themselves. You are all invited so hope you are able to drop in for the opening or any time that suits and please leave an encouraging comment in the comments book.
Thank-you

Australia Cup Competition
Hi Members, I have again extended the Australia Cup competition on website as we are still looking for more member’s images to represent HBPC this year.
Theme is: THIS IS AUSTRALIA and entries are now closing this Sunday 7/4/24. “This is Australia” was the theme from our February competition, so would be great to see more of your images to put our best work forward. Member’s may submit 3 images online which will then be judged by a 3 person panel. With current club membership numbers, HBPC can then include a maximum of 2 images per person for Australia Cup. Best of luck, look forward to more beautiful images!
Definition for THIS IS AUSTRALIA: Any image that shows a flavour of life in Australia including landscapes, people, events and places including architecture, birds and animals. Images may be taken in any of Australia’s territories. Entries must be a single image as captured by the camera; no composites allowed.
All entered Images & individual awards are eligible to count as national acceptances towards APS Honours LAPS, AAPS.

Easter Photo OPs
I just got home from a walk and found that there is a sailing regatta on this weekend. It is the Scarness Boat Club area. Kids sail close to the shore (for those like me without zoom lenses) and adults are about 1km out, (for those with big zoom lenses). Also noticed some Brilliant Mushrooms/Toadstools on a vacant block across from the Newly renovated Holiday Park. I plan to go back later in the day in the that, hope no one has knocked them over. Does any one else know of anything?

AUSTRALIA CUP:
The external competition for AUSTRALIA CUP has now been extended and we are calling for many more images to represent HBPC for this year’s Australia Cup. Closing Competitions
Hi Members, here are a few external competitions that are closing soon that you may be interested in. Included is info sent over about Salon of Excellence.
- APS National (myphotoclub.com.au) – closes 15 March
- PSQ: Salon of Excellence Queensland (myphotoclub.com.au) – closes 17 March.
Dear PSQ affiliated camera clubs
This is a final reminder to all camera clubs that the 2024 Salon of Excellence competition entries close within two weeks on Sunday March 17. Club secretaries could you please circulate this reminder to all club members.
Entries will be submitted via the SEQ MyPhotoClub website https://psq-seq.myphotoclub.com.au/. Detailed information, including the invitation document, is available on the website.
Subjects are: Open Colour, Open Mono, People (Colour or Mono), Nature (Colour), Social Documentary (Mono) and Creative (Colour or Mono).
There are both Print and Digital competitions, with separate competitions for A Grade and Non A Grade competitors.
This is a wonderful opportunity for all members to participate in a Queensland-wide competition and to test your skills beyond your own club competition. We would especially encourage Non A Grade members to take advantage of the opportunity.
While this is primarily an individual competition, it is also a chance for clubs to compete against one another, with trophy awarded to clubs with the highest overall points, the highest average points (to encourage smaller clubs) and most number of Acceptances.
We look forward to continuing support for this longstanding competition.
Kind regards
Martin Riley
